The Companion from the Dark
From lowering of the sun
Entering a quiet base with presence
Lots of work during the suns peak done
It prepares, making its appearance
Never misses the mark of the click
Even before seen, when lights are dim
Friendliness with fur so dark and slick
Repeating the greeting of warmth
Its rumble of serenity and joy
Even calms chaos with hearth
Needy to share time to rejoice
Dreaming together before the sun return
After a long day of work, a calm companion from the dark brings joy to the person who has had a long hard day. The poem describes the companion to be friendly and somewhat mysterious showing that companionship can come from unexpected places. The answer to who our mysterious companion is, is answered in the acrostic. My inspiration for this poem is my black cat named Luna who always seems to calm my crazy days in the repetition of her calm interactions.
