¿Qué te motivó a irte de intercambio?
Lo que me motivó fue que mi padre fue de intercambio cuando tenía mi edad y me entró curiosidad de cómo sería un año de intercambio
- ¿Qué esperas aprender o experimentar durante tu intercambio?
lo que esperaba aprender es la cultura y cómo funcionan los colegios
- ¿Qué habilidades personales (como adaptación, independencia) esperas desarrollar?
Sabia que tenia que aprender a ser más independiente y organizarme, y socializar para conocer personas
- ¿Qué te preocupa o da miedo de esta experiencia?
me preocupaba de que no le cayera bien a gente
- ¿Cómo te adaptas mejor a nuevas situaciones?
me adapto mejor hablando a la gente y haciendo preguntas sobre el lugar

Hablar de las diferencias de los colegios y las horas de la comida

Hago amigos socializando y haciendo preguntas sobre el lugar
- ¿Cómo te comunicarás con tu familia de acogida si hay diferencias culturales?
me comunico con la familia haciendo preguntas si tengo dudas sobre la comida o las actividades
- ¿Qué te gusta hacer con tu familia de acogida?
me gusta las actividades que hacemos cuando estamos en casa por ejemplo ayudar en el jardín o jugar afuera
- ¿Cómo puedes involucrarte en la comunidad local?
me involucro en la comunidad haciendo horas de voluntario
- ¿Qué tipo de actividades fuera de la escuela te interesan?
me gustan los deportes porque me ayuda conocer gente fuera del colegio

cómo iban a enseñar en clase y la duración de ellas

Pues haciendo los deberes y si tengo preguntas preguntar
- ¿Cómo te enfrentas a un nuevo sistema educativo o a un nuevo idioma?
tengo que estar más concentrado y hacer más preguntas si no entiendo algo
- ¿Qué estrategias usas para aprender el idioma?
yo creo que estoy bien adaptado al idioma ya que mi padre me empezó ha hablar en inglés desde que era muy pequeño y es mi segundo año aquí

me gustaría recordar toda la gente que conocí durante los años que estuve aquí y todas las actividades
- ¿Cómo puede esta experiencia influir en tus decisiones futuras?
esta experiencia ha afectado en que quiero ir a la Universidad aquí en EEUU
- ¿Qué significa “adaptación” para ti?
Para mi significa te mueves en situaciones nuevas
- ¿Cómo puedes hacer que cada día sea una oportunidad para aprender algo nuevo?
tienes que estar motivado y tener ganas de aprender cosas nuevas

What motivated you to go on an exchange?
What motivated me was that my father went on an exchange when he was my age and I became curious about what an exchange year would be like.
What do you hope to learn or experience during your exchange?
What I hoped to learn about is the culture and how the schools work.
What personal skills (like adaptation, independence) do you hope to develop?
I knew I had to learn to be more independent and organized, and to socialize to meet people.
What worries or scares you about this experience?
I worried that people wouldn’t like me.
How do you best adapt to new situations?
I adapt best by talking to people and asking questions about the place.
About culture and destination
How can you be a good ambassador for your own culture?
By talking about the differences in schools and meal times.
About social life and your environment
How do you make friends?
I make friends by socializing and asking questions about the place.
How will you communicate with your host family if there are cultural differences?
I communicate with the family by asking questions if I have doubts about the food or activities.
What do you enjoy doing with your host family?
I like the activities we do when we are at home, for example helping in the garden or playing outside.
How can you get involved in the local community?
I get involved in the community by doing volunteer hours.
What kind of activities outside of school interest you?
I like sports because it helps me meet people outside of school.
About academic life and learning
What did you expect from school in another country?
How they were going to teach in class and the duration of the classes.
How will you stay connected with your studies?
Well, by doing my homework and asking questions if I have any.
How do you face a new educational system or a new language?
I have to be more focused and ask more questions if I don’t understand something.
What strategies do you use to learn the language?
I think I am well adapted to the language since my father started speaking to me in English when I was very young and this is my second year here.

What would you like to remember about this experience 5 years from now?
I would like to remember all the people I met during the years I was here and all the activities.
How might this experience influence your future decisions?
This experience has influenced me in that I want to go to the University here in the USA.
What does “adaptation” mean to you?
To me it means moving yourself into new situations.
How can you make every day an opportunity to learn something new?
You have to be motivated and eager to learn new things.
