Oakwood Girls Tennis: Finishing the Season Strong!
This season our girl’s tennis team did a phenomenal job. The Oakwood girls’ tennis team concluded the season with an overall record of 9-10 showing steady effort and improvement throughout their matches. Despite a few losses earlier in the season, the team ended with strong performances at the TIC Conference tournament.
At the conference match, #3 singles player Lou Porter-Acee had a standout performance, winning her entire bracket to take home the conference singles title. In doubles, play the #1 doubles with Harper Longshore and Adrianna Sicley also finished first in their division, earning the conference doubles championship. Because of their hard work, Lou, Adrianna, and Harper were selected for TIC All-Conference Honors.
Coach Terry Wicker noted that the team had improved significantly since the beginning of the season. With a growing interest and returning players, Coach Terry hopes to improve the team to dominate next season. He also hopes to encourage newer players to gain experience so the team will have even more depth and options for singles and doubles matches.
As the team heads into the state playoffs, they are building off the energy from the conference match. Being the #4 seed for state playoffs, the Lady Eagles are ready to play their hardest to represent Oakwood. They hope to end the season with a bang!
