Recently, students in the Oakwood Spanish Honor Society visited the 7th grade to share a fun, musical Spanish lesson. The students took a break from their regular Spanish lessons to perform ‘Cabeza, Hombros, Rodillas y Pies’—the Spanish version of ‘Head, Shoulders, Knees, and Toes’—for Mrs. Doughtie’s and Mr. Harper’s classes. This lighthearted performance brought laughter and musicality to the Spanish classrooms. The seventh graders eagerly joined in to sing and do the motions alongside the upper school. This service project showed the society’s enthusiasm to encourage Spanish learning in the Oakwood community.
The performance instantly introduced laughter and energy into the classroom setting. The upper school students led the singing and motions to the 7th grade students who followed the motions and recited the Spanish song. By the end of the lesson, the room was filled with smiles and laughter in the 7th graders. For the Honor Society members the visit was a service project as well as a way to spread enthusiasm for the Spanish language in the Oakwood community.
