Washington D.C was an amazing place to visit! Everyone in the eighth grade could all agree about this. From being able to see some of the places where our country was started and created, to being able to walk in the same homes that many historical figures had walked in. It was an amazing experience to be able to connect with others both in the present and the past. Opening all our eyes to how beautiful our country truly is and how it is a land of the people!
“The Washington trip was very fun. I loved the memorials the most. It was a little cold at times though, but I still loved it.” Says one of the eighth graders, Sarah Zwart, “If only there were no government shutdown. We could have seen some going inside the government buildings. The things we did though were fun, considering they were planned fast and close to the actual trip.” We are very grateful to the teachers for their hard work to make this trip fun and educational for us. Due to the governmental shutdown, some of the original places that were planned were canceled. While on the trip, plans had to be changed as well to fit in for time. We all had a fun time and are grateful to be able to go through D.C without many complications. Though many of the originally planned places were changed, we all had lots of fun!
On our trip, we had four main teachers. We all thank Mrs. Imbimbo, Mr. Kowalski, Señor Amador, and Ms. Bradley. “The Washington DC trip was an amazing opportunity to explore our nation’s capital and get to know the 8th graders even more.” Ms. Bradley said, “My favorite parts of the trip were when we visited the Washington monument and climbed up the hill and the wind made it feel surreal, when we all sat on the steps of the Abraham Lincoln monument together, and when we explored the haunted mansion escape room and we all kept getting stuck!”
We visited many places and got to experience many places and cultures around the world. An example of this would be the words muesam! At the time of going and visiting another two schools had been visited as well. One school from here in the USA and another visiting from Ireland. But in the word museum, we got to interact with computers and other forms to learn about the meanings of many of the words we use today. From learning about the meanings inside of our component books we read, to learning how to say hello in many other languages! Another portion that others may say they enjoyed was the food. We had options of where we got to go. Each option had new cultural cuisines from many cultures and traditions to try and experience. An example of a place we all went to would be IKEA. There we got to try Swedish food! Many of us would agree that the meatballs were amazing!
Washington was truly an amazing place to visit and walk through. We got to learn about many of the cultures around the world, to visit the places where many of our historical figures walked at some point in time. Washington D.C was truly a breathtaking, eye-opening experience to be able to visit. We are very thankful to our school for being able to take us on this trip. Many schools and people are unable to go and visit places with their family or school. But most of all, we are grateful to Mrs. Imbimbo for organizing this trip for us. We all loved this and will always remember the memories that we have gained!
