The N.C Coastal Envirothon is a regional environmental science competition where teams are evaluated on their knowledge of five areas of study: aquatics, current environmental issues, forestry, soil, and wildlife.
After months of rigorous studying and practice, all four teams sent by Oakwood placed in the top three and qualified for the state-level event.
Upper school teams “Tree Rings of Flower” (Edward B, Kanishka D, Marcus G, Eva J, and Mary Beth W) and “The Bigger Badder Bark Beetles” (Winston B, Caden E, Lana H, Nicolas P, and Chigozie O) placed 2nd and 3rd place respectively, while middle school teams the “Eco Eagles” and “Terrafusion” placed the same.
Congratulations to all of our Envirothon Athletes and can’t wait for another successful season for the coming school year!
