JV Girls Basketball: With Grace and Grit.
Our junior girls’ basketball team has gained quite the reckoning this season. With the help of dedicated coaches, the girls have been honing in on their skills and building strong fundamentals. Many new players are joining this year, many of whom haven’t played basketball in a long time. But regardless of experience, the girls’ team has shown incredible growth since the beginning of the season. The girls have shown great work together both on offense and defense this season.
The two captains Aniyah and Amelia have been amazing captains both having an important role in the team’s victories. Both captains have the grit, the hustle, and the dedication needed and expected from captains. Anaya exhibits an exceptional level of grit, she pushes her teammates to go beyond their level and also demonstrates a fierce competitive spirit that is contagious. Amelia complements Anaya’s leadership with her strategic ability to read the game. She showcases an impressive combination of both speed and shooting skills. She and Anaya both work well together and this helps band the JV Girls Basketball team together as seen in many of the home games.
JV Boys Basketball: Strength and Skill.
The JV boys are just as impressive as the girls this season, showcasing their strength and talent. Their practice sessions are filled with intensity as they work on their shooting, dribbling, passing, and defensive strategies. Coach Campbell instills a sense of discipline, and teamwork and emphasizes communication between the team. This year we also have an exchange student playing basketball Max from Germany, who has taken on the role of being the enforcer on defense. Tanner and Declan both have great ball-handling skills and shooting skills. Braven a seventh grader is playing up with the JV boys and is doing a remarkable job as well. The team plays together and is aggressively focused. Their hard work and dedication are reflected in the increasing attendance at their games, with students cheering as the boys battle against tough opponents.
Both teams benefited generously from the support of the school community. The students, parents, and faculty contributed significantly to the game’s atmosphere and volunteered to score during games to schedule banquets. Thank you we truly appreciate your support! Let’s continue to rally behind our teams and celebrate their achievements this season! Go Oakwood!
