Going into this Superbowl, the Chiefs were looking to win their third Super Bowl in a row, becoming the first team to do so, and the Eagles wanted revenge for Superbowl 57, where they lost to the Chiefs.
People were expecting a close game, a tight race, and an epic finish, but the Eagles had other plans. Jalen Hurts and the Eagles’ came out red hot putting up 24 points in the first half. They did receive some help from CB Cooper DeJean who had an interception in which he ran back for a touchdown.
This Eagles’ defense was suffocating all night, and we went into halftime with the score 24-0. After a controversial halftime show by Kendrick Lamar, featuring SZA, the Eagles decided to keep their foot on the gas pedal, putting up 10 more points and extending their lead to 34-0.
At this point in the game, the Eagles put in their bench players, so they could say that they played in the Superbowl. The Chiefs scored some points in garbage time where it didn’t matter, and the final score ended up 40-22 with the Eagles coming out on top.
Jalen Hurts used this game to silence all of his critics, silencing people who said that he wasn’t a top 10 QB in the league. This game was very important for Eagles head coach Nick Siriani, who was in the last year of his contract and might have been released if it weren’t for his amazing turnaround for the Eagles this season.
This is the Eagle’s second all-time Superbowl victory, both happening in the last 7 years. It’s safe to say that with the Eagles’ momentum, and core of young guys, this team will be a problem next year too.
