A lot of people are talking about how bad the NBA All-Star game was. The games are boring, the players don’t even look like they are having fun, and few people are showing up.
I have come up with some events that could make All-Star weekend significantly more entertaining.
First off, choosing better contestants for the dunk contest. There are guys like Giannis Antetokumpo, Ja Morant, Anthony Edwards, and Jalen Green who are high flyers, but never do the dunk contest. Putting these guys in the competition would make it much better.
Secondly, the skills competition is not very entertaining. My idea is to replace it with a 1v1 tournament. There would be 16 players in this tournament, with seeding based on points per game average thus far in the season. This is a little confusing because it isn’t the top 16 players in ppg, it is 16 of the best 1v1 players, and the seeding is based on ppg. The games go to 5, and scoring is based on 1s and 2s. The winner of this tournament gets a 1 million dollar bonus from the NBA. This will make the young guys who are on rookie contracts want to play in the tournament more.
Finally, the All-Star game starters and players should be based on stats, because there is absolutely no way Tyrese Maxey isn’t an All-Star this year.
These are some changes I would make to the NBA All-Star Weekend. NBA, DO BETTER.
