I was assigned to interview the German international students and ask them a few questions about their lives before and at Oakwood. In this interview, I am going to be using initials.: FM for me, LP for Lasse Peterson, and LR for Leontina Radovic.
Leontina:
FM: What’s it like, flying 4,000 miles to a new school? How has Oakwood been so far?
LR: Good. The students are very good, they take care of me.
FM: What specific part of Germany do you come from? Town, city, village, etc.
LR : Frankfurt. It’s like, a city, there are many buildings, there are a lot of cafes and restaurants.
FM: Is German your first language?
LR : Second Language. My first language is Serbian. I was originally from Serbia.
FM: Have you experienced any culture shock?
LR : I dont think so. The public transportation is different, though. You dont have buses or trains.
FM: What is your favorite part about Oakwood?
LR : The students.
FM: Do you have a favorite class?
LR : English. Because I really like the things we’re doing in English, and I really like the teacher. She’s putting in a lot of effort.
FM: What, if any, instrument do you play?
LR : Piano. I’ve been playing piano for 9 years.
FM: Favorite food(s)?
LR : No, not really.
FM: Favorite musical artist, or most listened to artist?
LR : No. But I have listened to everything.
FM: Are you currently playing any sports at Oakwood, and on the same note, do you plan to play any more sports or plan to play sports in the Winter or Spring?
LR : I play tennis.
FM: Do you plan on auditioning for the musical?
LR : No, I don’t think so!
FM: Favorite movie or TV series?
LR : The Summer I Turned Pretty.

FM: How are you acclimating to the change? Has Oakwood been welcoming to you so far?
LP: Yeah. I really like Oakwood, fun school, fun people, and I like it.
FM: What part of Germany do you come from? Town, city, village, etc.
LP: Northern Part, the city is called Hamburg. And it’s the second largest city in Germany.
FM: I understand you play soccer. How has that been going, and how long have you been playing soccer?
LP: I was playing soccer for a few years in Germany, and now I play at Oakwood. I really like the team. We have a lot of games, but they are also a lot of fun.
FM: Do you plan on joining any clubs?
LP: Yeah, definitely. But I don’t know which clubs are offered, but once I get the information, I will definitely join some clubs if possible.
FM: Do you have a favorite class?
LP: No, I like soccer, sports are a lot of fun.
FM: Do you play an instrument?
LP: Yeah, I do. I am in strings class, and I play guitar, and today is my first time in strings class. I have been playing the guitar for three years in Germany.
FM: English is your second language, correct?
LP: Yeah. And I also have Spanish class here in the U.S. currently, so I am learning both Spanish and English. In Germany, we are learning the language French.
FM: Do you have a favorite food or food(s)?
LP: I like Zaxby’s and Chick-Fil-A.
FM: Favorite musical artist, or most listened to artist?
LP: Not really, not really. I have listened to almost every artist.
FM: Favorite movie or TV series?
LP: Interstellar. It’s a good movie, I like it. I have some favorite movies, and that’s the last one of them.
