This season hasn’t been easy for Oakwood Volleyball. We’ve faced tough teams, hard losses, and even seen a few players step away. On writing, the scoreboard might not look like success- but on the court, something much more important has been happening.
Despite losing eight games straight, the Varsity team hasn’t lost heart. We’ve learned what it means to push forward even when things don’t go our way. Every serve, every dive, and every point has been a chance to grow stronger together.
As the new captain, I see our team not as a record of wins or losses, but as a group that refuses to give up. Volleyball is about teamwork, resiliency, and celebrating the small victories- the long rallies, the perfect passes, the moment someone learns a new skill. And in those ways, we’ve been winning all along.
Next year, we want more people to be part of this journey. Whether you’ve played for years or never touched a volleyball, there’s a place for you on this team. We need players who are willing to learn, grow, and support each other— and together, we’ll build something stronger than just a season record. Losses may shape us, but they don’t define us. The future of Oakwood volleyball is bright, and we’d love for you to be part of it.
